A different perspective on species loss
Placed in various locations throughout the museum, lovingly crocheted animal figures by Italian artist Serena Figuccio draw attention to the delicate balance of our ecosystems. They symbolize the fragility of nature and address pressing ecological challenges such as pollution, species extinction, and climate change.
The installation comprises a total of ten crocheted representations of different animal species, including honey bees, polar bears, and hyacinth macaws, as well as a large crocheted coral reef. “Fallen Through the Net” invites visitors to take a fresh look at the interaction between humans and nature and to become more aware of our responsibility for preserving our planet.

All visitors are invited to get creative during the exhibition: in an accompanying crocheting workshop, the textile coral reef in the exhibition can be expanded. Whether fish, coral, or starfish – each crocheted figure adds a new detail to the fragile underwater ecosystem. The result is a growing collaborative work of art that invites visitors to participate and impressively highlights the importance of protecting marine habitats.
